The development of information technologies in Azerbaijan will increase the number of mobile phone and Internet users through 2009, a Britain-based research center predicts.
The percentage of cell phone users in the country will make up 20.2% by the year-end. The figure is expected to reach 21.6% in 2007, 23.3% in 2008 and 24.1% the following year, the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) said.
As for the world wide web users, their number will remain unchanged in 2007 at 0.7% of the overall population, just like in the past two years. However, the indicator will slightly rise to 0.8% in 2008 and 2009, according to the projections.
